ABOUT US

Mino Miikanan, which means “Good Trails” in Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe), is a workshop designed to address trauma, addiction, and intergenerational trauma. This workshop is based on three fundamental principals, purpose, ceremony and spirituality.  Many participants have expressed frustration with repeatedly sharing their trauma narrative with different counselors. In response, the Mino Miikanan workshop does not require participants to disclose their personal experiences of trauma. Instead, we explore how these experiences have interrupted the relationships we have with ourselves, the people around us and the world in witch we live. In addition, this safe and meaningful psycho-educational workshop also focuses on coping strategies that may no longer support personal wellness. These strategies can include addiction, isolation, anger, shame, guilt, and difficulty grieving losses related to trauma, such as loss of family, community, liberty, identity, and economic stability.

Mino Miikanan includes storytelling and humor to provide a culturally appropriate and safe workshop that supports physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional wellness.  Western ways to wellness  are offered as tools and are not intended to replace cultural or personal identity.

The workshop provides self-supporting, peer-driven skills and helps participants better understand the effects of trauma, addiction and intergenerational trauma.

COMMUNITY
WORKSHOPS

The Mino Miikanan Trauma and Addiction program was created to deliver a culturally appropriate, safe, and meaningful psycho-educational program that promotes wellness in all aspects of life: physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional. The program is designed to offer skills that are self-supporting and peer-driven. The materials covered will give participants a better understanding of the effects of trauma and addiction, and more effective coping strategies to apply to all areas of their lives.

YOUNG ADULT WORKSHOPS

Rooted in the three basic principles of Purpose, Ceremony and Spirituality the Mino Miikanan Young Adult Workshop explores the negative behaviours associated with trauma and addiction in young adults aged 18 to 30.  The Mino Miikanan Young Adult Program will continue to offer the base programming of moving towards wellness while developing a language of trauma and addiction, with the difference being, offering young adults an early opportunity to understand how generational trauma has negatively affected their lives, and set themselves up for success as they navigate through the noted years.

TESTIMONIALS

"Over the past two years, Mino Miikinan, meaning “a good path” in Anishinaabemowin, has helped foster hope and renewal in Nuu-chah-nulth territories, empowering individuals to walk a new path rooted in identity, respect, and resilience.
Grounded in Indigenous knowledge and cultural practices, the program creates a safe, powerful space for participants to reconnect with themselves, their histories, and their communities. Graham Jobson brings a rare combination of deep cultural humility, lived experience, and professional skill, weaving together land-based teachings, trauma-informed approaches, and traditional healing practices in a way that resonates profoundly with participants.
NTC is honoured to continue supporting the delivery of Mino Miikanan in our communities. We raise our hands in gratitude to Graham Jobson for his unwavering commitment, his heart-centered leadership, and for walking alongside us as we continue our journey to wellness."
